Meet Imani Simon’s Mother- Mrs. Cynthia Simon

Cynthia Simon is very proud of what her daughter accomplished her senior year as she blossomed into a different person.

“Imani used to be shy and very introverted, but that is no longer. I have seen so much change in her in one year. It has been unbelievable. The Youth Empowerment Program has been a blessing not only for Imani but for me as a parent. I was very nervous about her going to Florida for the camping trip,” said Mrs. Simon.

YEP seniors have the opportunity to participate in an Outward Bound Experience in the Florida Everglades. This is sponsored by our Donors and the North Carolina Outward Bound program.

“Her YEP experience not only transformed her into an outgoing and self-assured person, but gave her the confidence to move forward with her career plan. She is now taking summer classes at HGTC,” continues Mrs. Simon. Imani is working toward an associate degree in Physical Therapy and her life goal is to be an Occupational Therapist. She plans to join the Air Force or Army after she finishes her associate degree.
