Meet Betreana Green

Betreana Green, a single parent, used GC3 training to find new employment. She explains, “I lost my job due to the company closing down. I had actually met Tasha Smith, the Career Coach from Helping Hands, one day by her coming into my job before closing.

“I explained to her that the store was closing, and I didn’t know what I was going to do. I had my little child to care for at the time, and I didn’t know where my next paycheck was going to come from, or how I was going to make ends meet. My Career Coach invited me to participate in the GC3 program.

“I was taught so much there. We learned about our attitudes, how to do a proper interview, how to go about life the correct way and so much more. My Career Coach always kept in touch with me. Ms. Smith would give me job leads and then follow up with me weekly. She also called and talked with the employer that I was most interested in. I interviewed and GOT THE JOB and started as a part time shift supervisor.

“I would talk to my Career Coach often and she would even pop in on me at times to see how things were going. I would talk to her about my likes and dislikes, and she always gave me great advice. One thing my Career Coach told me which stuck with me, she said: “If you don’t like where you are now, push for greater until you get where you want to be. Remember I’m always a call away.”
