Good Morning Everyone,
I hope that you and your family are doing well, staying healthy, and getting lots of sunshine on these beautiful days lately. I hit a bucket of baseballs with my boys Tuesday and I am feeling it today!!!! I just wanted to give you an update on things here at Helping Hands. We miss all of you and so ready for the day we can be back together here at Helping Hands.
We had an AMAZING Palmetto Giving Day! Many thanks to ALL of you for all your help whether it was spreading the word or donating. THANK YOU! We were able to raise over $137,000 for Helping Hands. How incredible during these times!!!
We just received a $2,000 grant from the Elk’s Lodge in Murrells Inlet for our dental clinic. This is great and we prepare for an increase in expenses in Personal Protective Equipment needed for our staff as well as patients to stay within the ADA guidelines for reopening. And guess what…..we are upgrading our equipment as well during this time downtime. When you return you will see a new improved dental clinic and we are so very excited!!! New chairs and new technology in the rooms to be able to serve the residents of Georgetown County even better! We plan to open the clinic back up starting in June.
We will continue to operate on Monday – Thursday 9 am – 12 pm schedule for both Andrews and Georgetown locations for a little while longer. Traffic at the locations has actually been slow but we are here for the ones that need us. The food pantry looks great thanks to many food drives happening around the community even as far up as Murrells Inlet. Such a blessing to see everyone pulling together to help those in need!
We will host our 1st ever Virtual Employment Boot Camp the week of 5/25. Our team has been busy converting the material, training, and presentations over the last several weeks. We hope that people will take advantage of gaining this knowledge our team has to offer right from their living room!
YEP is in full force as well. Our team is working on graduation plans for those who attend YEP for the 2019-2020 school year and keeping them motivated and healthy during this time. Today, we are meeting (via Zoom, I think) and will be joined by a RN from Smith Medical to learn about staying healthy, eating the right foods, etc. I believe several are even taking some graduation pictures that were lined up by our wonderful Time to Change Team….Ronald, Tasha and Teon!
I can’t think of anything else but please ask questions if I forgot something! Food Truck delivery today so lots of work ahead of us today in the warehouse:-)
Many Blessings to you and your families,
Tracy
